Making the dream come true one athlete and fan at a time
Fourteen years ago I wrote and performed 'Stronger Higher Faster' in the Olympic Village to inspire the athletes in Vancouver for the Winter Games. Two years later I released it in acoustic production style music which I called 'acoustic/singer-songwriter pop'. The feelings emoted from this version are nostalgic, hopeful, reminiscent, uplifting and anthemic.
But the dream was and is currently still alive to have 'Stronger Higher Faster' heard by athletes and featured by an Olympic team or the Olympics themselves. Though I started releasing songs with electronic undertones from the 80's to current sounds starting in 2020 with 'Way Of Life' and continuing with 'Alone Together (driving remix)' earlier this year, I didn't really imagine I would do an EDM genre production until, coincidentally I came across an Electronic Dance Music producer on TikTok that I really enjoyed.
As the Olympics were approaching and I knew I was going, I was inspired to reach out and see if he (producer Ludvic) would be interested in 'modernizing' my song to be more dance and upbeat for athletes to work out to, and thankfully I was not disappointed! I had to re-sing everything as he completely rearranged the music and chords underneath but I got it done before the drive to Paris!
Because I was late in coming to this idea for this years Olympics, the song was only able to be released in August, but the idea that this song could be used in 2026 or 2028 or any Olympics moving forward was then born. The dream to have it featured at an Olympics would bring me to tears.
That being said, thankfully through a connection to a friend from Canada, I was able to get one athlete to hear it and even dance to it with me - womens' 8 rowing silver medallist Kristen Kit from Canada!! This is us doing what I call the 'Olympic Dance' after her interview with my friend who was talking about her days at the University of British Columbia.
The Story Behind The Olympic Dance!
During my visit of Paris during the 2024 Olympic Games, I met up with a friend from Canada who I had met in Rio de Janeiro at the 2016 Olympic Games for the same reason; the Olympics!
While at the Arc de Triumph I came up with and idea for a dance that I asked him to do for the song and this what he did on the first take!
As soon as I saw it, I loved it and re-did it in front of the Olympic Rings at Place de Bastille in Paris!
